Scholarship Applications Available

Now is the time to apply for our annual Scholarship. All members and their children are welcome to apply. The requirements are as follows:

  1. Applicant must be a referee in good standing or the child of a referee in good standing.
  2. Applicant must submit a transcript of grades for the past year and the latest available marking period of 2013.
  3. Three (3) letters of recommendation from: (1) A past or present employer, (2) A school representative and (3) A personal friend or acquaintance or clergy person. (No LISRA Board Member may write a letter of recommendation.)
  4. A letter from the applicant expressing why he or she feels that they should be awarded a scholarship.
  5. Letters and transcripts must be received before April 30, 2013. All paperwork should be addressed to the LISRA office. (Make certain to write LISRA)
  6. The April 30 deadline will be strictly enforced.

Grassroots Referee Course

 
 
 
Grassroots (Assistant & Center) referee class will be in West Islip  on March 7th.
The course consists of 4 hours classroom and 2 hour outside field training.
You, MUST complete a 4 hour on-line Grassroots modules to attend the class. 
If you are 18 or over, you must also take the 90 minute Safe Sport modules.
 
HERE ARE THE STEPS TO REGISTER 
 
1. Register for the West Islip class at https://enysra.gameofficials.net
  
The course is $190 and includes a uniform kit.
You must be 14 years of age to take this class per NY State Labor laws

NO WALK INS will be allowed - PLEASE REGISTER ASAP 
 
2.  You MUST complete the 4 hour on-line modules for the Laws of the Game before the in person class.

3.  LISRA (Long Island Soccer Referee Association) also requires all officials to pay a $30 administration fee to set you up to start refereeing.
You can bring a check to the class or pay $35 online on our website  http://www.lisoccerrefs.org
All LISRA members are required to pay annual Association dues.
If you are under 21 Full Time Student ($40) or over 21 ($155). 
Annual dues payments are to be paid at the beginning of every year.
However, new officials (like yourself) will only have to pay 1/2 of these dues by Fall 2020.
 
4. There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting for those participants 14-18 years old, to go over the referee program the day of the in person class. 
More information to follow.  It's about 60-90 minutes
 
5. Our next classes will be over the summer.  
 
It is about 90 minutes in length but is free utilizing access code YC3E‐6P5G‐YYIL‐CS2M    
Take a picture of completion of on line course & Safe Sport with your phone and bring it to the class.  You will not be admitted without it. 
 
Assistant Referees earn $30-$42 per game
Center Referees earn $44-$82 per game
You can work as much or little as your schedule and travel limit allows.
